David and Victoria Beckham set to move to Paris

David and Victoria Beckham are planning to move their family to Paris as he prepares to sign for the city’s famous team. The Beckhams have started househunting in Paris – fuelling claims that they are about to leave their Los Angeles base for a new life in France.

comes to an end
The footballer is locked in negotiations with Qatari-owned Paris St Germain and a deal is said to be imminent.
Victoria will visit the French capital in the next few weeks to look at apartments to rent in the most exclusive, stylish area of the city – the Sixth Arrondissement.

She will also visit English-speaking schools in the upmarket neighbourhood for sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz in preparation for a January move. David is due to play what could be his final game for LA Galaxy.

The couple, who will return to their Hertfordshire home for Christmas, are due to announce the decision before Beckham’s five-year deal with LA Galaxy ends on December 31. David and Victoria, 37, have ruled out commuting to France from LA, and the whole family is preparing to move to Europe.

Fashion designer Victoria is said to be excited about the move. ‘She thinks it will help develop her brand and that Paris will open doors for her.’ The couple already own a chateau in the South of France but have instructed aides to look for an apartment in Paris.

A source said: “David, Victoria and the kids absolutely love living in LA but after nearly five years of running around in Hollywood and Malibu they feel this could be the perfect time for a change of pace. They want to stay in the States long term but an 18-month period living in Paris is attractive on so many levels.

“Victoria has always liked the idea of living there and now she is heavily involved in the fashion industry she loves the idea of being surrounded by so many creative influences in the fashion capital of the world.

The source said: “David feels like he has achieved a great deal in the States and although he still sees his future there long term, it may be time for a change. In PSG there is a club who can afford his wages and probably offer him Champions League football next year.”

A spokesman said: “No decisions have yet been made.”
